Getting back into the pastry industry

I am asking for some advice from the professionals out there. I am a graduate of a prestigious culinary school in which I speacialized in pastries. My career was doing wonderful until I moved from Los Angeles to Houston about 6 years ago. About 3 years ago I got out of the industry due to lack to jobs that fit my training in the area. I am now anxious to get back into the industry and possibly move back to Los Angeles. Does anyone out there think that I can do this now? After being out for so long.
