There are premade fillings but I have found that none of them really taste like real food.

I sometimes use my pie filling recipes as cake filling. For example my blueberry pie filling is great between cake layers.

Here is one that can be used with most berry type fruits. Some fruits have a higher water content and may need more cornstarch. Frozen fruits also tend to have a higher water content

Strawberry Filling 2 pts strawberries 1/2 cup sugar 1T lemon juice 1T Kirsch 2 T cornstarch

Slice strawberries and place 1/4 of them in a pot with the sugar. Bring to a boil. In a small bowl, combine the lemon juice, kirsch and cornstarch Off the heat, stir this mixture into the boiling straberry mixture. Return toa boil, stirring, and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool. Add remining sliced berries.
