I too have had yummy success with filo. Try individual strudels. Following Gerard's instructions, once the filo is stacked - cut each sheet into about 4 long strips. Put the filling (only a couple of tablespoons) at one end and begin to fold like a flag. I use cinnamon and sometimes raisins or currants with the apples. After baking cool slightly and then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Great treat - can be eaten "out of hand" - and it's crunchy on all sides (which is the true appeal of strudle isn't it?)
