Practice on a plate, thats how I started learning to decorate, its not like you want to work on a cake first time out. See if you can actually draw it on paper first, then try makking an outline on a plate, try icing something round like either cut cardboard or ? Theres really no secret to practice, just have a go , then have another go and another.
