I hope you live somewhere with little or no humidity, since nothing kills sugar work faster. You may want to consider using chocolate transfer sheets (available through specialty suppliers), or small, detailed marzipan decorations. Depending on the number you have to do, maybe pulled sugar decorations. I hope this helps.
